Dwight Howard Trade Rumors: Will Chicago Bulls Find a Way to Land Howard?

Dwight Howard May Be on the Bulls' Radar As Dwight Howard has locked up his third-straight Defensive Player of the Year award, there are rumors swirling around that the Orlando franchise player may be on the move in the offseason.ESPN's Ric Bucher writes: I would expect a Dwight trade this summer or before the next season starts, from what I'm hearing. Rose likes his core because it's the core he has. He's not opposed to the Bulls improving it.So soon already? Well, let's face it. The Eastern conference is stacked with talented teams. There's the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Miami Heat that could potentially get in the way of the Magic, should they get past the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. In short, it's going to be a very tough time for Howard and the Magic, considering they've been very inconsistent all season long.Bucher adds:Let's put it this way: Dwight should want to go to Chicago and play with Rose. That combo would be Kobe-Shaqesque. But from all I hear, Dwight is looking at LA or NJ. Nothing in between. The level of frustration must be building for Howard since he's become the end-all, be-all of the Magic offense and defense, while not getting enough production from his teammates.Forget about the Lakers and the Nets for a second. A team that Dwight Howard could immediately put over the top is definitely the the Chicago Bulls. Starting with a package that includes both Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah a few first-rounders may be enough to convince Orlando to pull the trigger. If they a younger piece, up-and-comer Taj Gibson may also draw their interest. It may already be a stretch that Howard stay in the East coast but some of us never believed that the Carmelo Anthony trade would ever happen. And that's exactly what Howard has going for him, leverage. If he says he's not re-signing, Orlando will need to face the harsh reality of rebuilding. If going west is the Magic's preferred destination, the only big man that may be available is the oft-injured Andrew Bynum in Los Angeles.Although he great size, that history of injuries makes him a lot less appealing than a Noah, Boozer and Gibson package. If the Bulls want to get even better, then that should be a move they don't need to think over twice about doing.Rose-to-Howard, now that's lethal!
