The New York Knicks Need LeBron James

In the summer of 2010, many different star NBA players will be eligible to become free agents. The pool is to include Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Tyson Chandler, Manu Ginobili, Richard Jefferson, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, and Michael Redd, among others. But the world's real concern is that biggest of all the stars who could opt out of his contract by this time. LeBron James could indeed leave Cleveland and head to greener pastures somewhere else. Here are the reasons he should head towards the big city lights of New York City to play for the Knicks. 1. Make the Team Attractive LeBron James won't come to the Knicks just because they play in NYC. The Knicks have to realize that they are going to need to pick up multiple players from the free agent market besides LeBron. Because he used to play under Mike D'Antoni's fastbreak system while in Phoenix, Joe Johnson would definitely be a good signing, and even though he will be 36 when free agency strikes in 2010, Steve Nash could also join the Knicks. If guys like those decide to join the Knicks in 2010, the King would certainly consider going to the Knicks. 2. Draft Stephen Curry This Year The Knicks will hold a lottery pick in this year's draft, and considering their probable position, it seems that they could have the opportunity to choose Davidson's combo guard Stephen Curry. Curry and LeBron are good friends, as LeBron went to Stephen's game against North Carolina at the beginning of the season. The thought is that Curry would help persuade LBJ, and that could possibly get LeBron to opt of the Cavs contract and come to New York. 3. Allow the City to Show Its Greatness LeBron James knows how great of a city the Big Apple is. It has eight million people within its limits, and there are nine major sports teams in the area. New York is the biggest city in the United States, and LeBron James hasn't denied that he loves it. From wearing a Yankees cap in Cleveland when the Yankees were playing the Indians to introducing the completely Yankee-inspired Air Zoom LeBron V shoe to having a giant billboard of him right next to Madison Square Garden (which was recently replaced by Nate Robinson), LeBron James has shown that he has just a touch of partiality to NYC. Brooklyn is his favorite borough, and he also is great friends with Jay-Z, which might indicate a slight leaning towards the New Jersey Nets, but with their relocation pending, the Knicks are a more likely destination. Heck, during LeBron's first visit to the Garden this season, they were giving out "WITNESS" t-shirts and cheering for LeBron every time he did something important on the court. Knick fans have been going through tough times the last several seasons with Isiah Thomas, Stephon Marbury, and the rest, and they need to have a player like James on their team soon. The New York Knicks need to have LeBron James for the 2010-2011 season. This is a club that hasn't won an NBA Championship since 1973, and they will desperately need a player of his caliber soon. The Knicks have been rebuilding their organization's reputation the last several seasons, and LeBron would definitley help out their image. Let's see it happen.
